The information about the district
Khatai district was called Zavodskaya in 1904, Fabrik district since 1920 and Shaumyan district since 1932. It was split in 1981 and part of it was called Nizami district. It was named Khatai on 05 January 1990. There are a number of large industrial enterprises operating in the territory of the district including “Azerneftyagh” NEZ, “Xazardenizneftdonanma” Department, Testing Industrial Plant and “Neft Kemerleri” Department. There are 37 high schools, 44 kindergartens, 1 childcare house and 15 polyclinics in the district. The total area of the district is 31,2 kv.km, and it has a population of 255.151 (21 June 2011). There are 10232 refugees and 23044 IDPs settled in Khatai district as a result of the aggressive policy of Armenian occupiers.
